Stratford Film Festival: Films That Matter, Stories That Stay With You
Year-round screenings | Historic roots | A bold new chapter
Stratford has always had a flair for the
dramatic — and the Stratford Film Festival is no exception. With a strong commitment to Canadian content, gender parity, and inclusivity, the festival proudly shines a spotlight on both emerging and established filmmakers from around the world.
Our inaugural four-day festival runs November 6–9, 2025, with a vibrant lineup of films that inspire, challenge, and connect us. But the story doesn’t stop there: in true Stratford style, SFF also presents year-round screenings (often twice monthly) at the iconic Stratford City Hall Auditorium in the heart of downtown.
Originally launched in 1956 by Stratford’s visionary arts champion Tom Patterson — yes, that Tom Patterson — the festival was one of the first in North America to celebrate international film. After a hiatus beginning in 1961 and a brief revival in the early 1970s, the Stratford Film Festival has now found its permanent home in Stratford’s thriving cultural calendar.
