Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

Don’t miss the fun due to construction delays!

Stratford Festival Theatre

Stratford is in the heart of theatre country

Really, when it comes to theatre, can anywhere else in Ontario—or, for that matter, Canada—compete with Stratford? We’ve got diversity of every kind—something for every taste.

We’ve long been synonymous with dazzling, innovative productions ranging from the Bard himself to contemporary plays and musicals at the Stratford Festival. And just a short drive from town there is also the Blyth Festival, which presents contemporary Canadian contemporary plays every summer.

Returning in 2020, you can take in SpringWorks: indie theatre and arts festival, featuring award-winning playwrights and actors, new works, dance, and cross-cultural and children's programming.

Stratford is brimming with theatre talent - from children to professionals, every aspect is covered. Off the Wall offers the unique opportunity to work with Stratford’s theatre artists in hands-on workshops. Playmakers! Theatre School presents our guided Ghosts of Stratford Walking Tours and performances that are open to the public throughout the year. If you're looking to participate in a theatre class of your own, join in on Process Theatre Spontaneous Creation classes every Saturday throughout the summer.

And new on the scene, Strictly Stratford Productions creates a unique experience for patrons, showcasing the talents of local theatre artists, while placing a special emphasis on thought-provoking Canadian Content.

Why just visit us in the summer? Make Stratford your date with the theatre all year-’round. For the latest news on what’s happening in theatre in our town, visit our Events Calendar.

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
