Provocation Ideas Festival Ignites Stratford with Art and Innovation
A new public square of spirited discussion, debate, and exploration of what is and what could be
In 2025, the Provocation Ideas Festival once again brings together a remarkable constellation of voices—community members, artists, performers, musicians, journalists, storytellers, scholars, urban planners, and culinary innovators—to explore urgent questions of our time under the unifying theme: City of Dreamers.

True Tapestries: Stratford Stories, Live with Music — Nov 15 & 22
Stratford on stage: actors, musicians, and unforgettable tales.
Every town holds stories—quiet, bold, funny, aching, and true. True Tapestries: Threads of Stratford Stories brings those stories to life across two intimate evenings of live storytelling and music at the Stratford Perth Museum. In short, shimmering bursts (3–5 minutes each), local voices and visiting friends share moments of memory, mischief, love, loss, and belonging—performed by Stratford actors and musicians in a warm, close-up setting.
Inspired by the spirit of the CBC’s Vinyl Cafe, True Tapestries celebrates the everyday extraordinary: the tale you tell at a kitchen table, the family myth that makes everyone laugh, the chance encounter that changed your path. With live music woven throughout, it’s a night to lean in, listen closely, and recognize yourself in your neighbours.
What to expect
- Short, powerful stories selected for their humour, poignancy, and heart—each one complete in just a few minutes.
- Live music that underscores and uplifts the stories, creating a rich, shared atmosphere.
- A community gathering where connection matters as much as performance—come early, stay after, and say hello.

Whether you’ve lived here for decades or just arrived, you’ll hear something that feels like home.
