Since 2017, Cloud Circuit has built its practice around communication glitches and lost connections. Poet Deanna Radford channels and mixes iterative text into deconstructed words of mouth and facial gesture, while sound artist Jeremy Young employs sine waves in flux, 1/4” magnetic tape, and captured radio airs. Cloud Circuit’s self-titled album was recorded at Montreal’s legendary Hotel2Tango studio by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem in My Heart) & Shae Brossard. The material features contributions from Montreal music luminaries including Sam Shalabi (Land of Kush, The Dwarfs of East Agouza), James Goddard (skin tone, Egyptian Cotton Arkestra), and Ida Toninato. This album project, which de-emphasizes engagement via digital streaming services, focuses on the connections humans make through technology in spite of the digital gatekeepers, bots, and scammers that come between us. Instead, Cloud Circuit trusts the terrestrial and the waves carried between open ears.
