Position: Heritage & Marketing Tourism Coordinator
Wage: $14.00 per hour | Term: May 13 - Labour day

Do you enjoy meeting new people? Are you interested in leading heritage walks and sharing Stratford’s stories in person and through social media? Are you interested in learning how social media can be used as a tool of business?

Stratford Tourism Alliance is looking for an outgoing, energetic leader interested in history and people to update existing heritage tours, guide walking tours, assist with STA social media and train additional staff members to lead tours.

Another important facet of the job is interacting with visitors and collecting data during face to face surveys. Information collected provides important marketing information. In addition to meeting visitors and sharing our past in an enthusiastic manner, the student will take photos/ videos and create social media posts reflecting our heritage stories. Students will work 35 hours per week including weekends.

Heritage & Marketing Tourism Coordinator will:

  • Actively promote Stratford and its history in a positive, enthusiastic fashion

  • Demonstrate knowledgeable of heritage, attractions and events in Stratford

  • Research and share accurate information

  • Train summer students to lead heritage walks

  • Lead guided walking tours requiring walking and talking for extended periods outdoors

  • Approach visitors to collect survey information outdoors

  • Proficient in Social Media activity/ execution, photography tools, iPad usage and Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrate an interest in taking engaging photos/ videos

  • Take quality photos and videos, write engaging posts and publicise current happenings on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to spelling and grammar

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people

  • Initiate and engage people in conversation – requiring extended periods outdoors and at events

  • Show strong problem solving, organizational and leadership skills

Location: 47 Downie St. and 30 York St.
Term: May 13 - Labour day and must be student registered in post secondary education returning to school in September.
The position is funded in part by Young Canada Works and is dependent on grant approval.

Are you an information expert? Do you excel at ensuring the needs and questions of people are taken care of? Are you someone who works hard every day to improve skills and accomplish goals? Exceptional Tourism Information Ambassadors are the crucial front line of Stratford Tourism Alliance and we are hiring an elite team of dedicated individuals to engage with our visitors in an outgoing and enthusiastic manner.

As one of Canada’s favoured travel destinations, Stratford is home to North America’s largest repertory theatre company, has the largest parkland per capita in the country, and offers renowned shopping and culinary excellence.

Candidates who are interested in being challenged and who will stand out supporting a team of top performers will be expected to work approximately 30 – 35 hours per week including weekends. The hours will vary to best suit the needs of our visitors seven days per week 10 am to 6 pm. If you are that candidate, we look forward to meeting you.

Tourism ambassadors will:

  • Enthusiastically engage with visitors to promote Stratford and area attractions, events and businesses

  • Acquire knowledge of the above on a continual basis

  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of Stratford and area

  • Express enthusiasm while leading tours that require walking and talking for extended periods outdoors

  • Take pride in maintaining inventories and ensuring a tidy and engaging welcome centre

  • Faithfully collect and input statistical information

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office/Internet research/Social Media

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Superior spelling and grammar

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills

  • Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills

  • Secondary language(s) are an asset
