Shining Light: A Vietnamese-Canadian Legacy

A special screening of Shining Light: A Vietnamese-Canadian Legacy, presented by the Stratford Film Festival. This pay-what-you-can ticketed event explores the Vietnamese-Canadian experience through storytelling and reflection.

“Shining Light: a Vietnamese -Canadian Legacy” tells the extraordinary story of Chieu-Anh Vu, born aboard a sinking cargo ship while fleeing Vietnam, and her mother Mui, who reached a Hong Kong refugee camp before resettling in Canada in spring 1975. The documentary follows Chieu-Anh’s journey from newborn refugee to successful e-commerce entrepreneur, highlighting Canada’s role in welcoming Vietnamese boat people.
