The NEW Huron Perth Biennial Juried Exhibition presented by Orr Insurance & Investment

Gallery Stratford is excited to unveil the array of talent and creativity of 33 selected contemporary regional artists. And, you will get to see the works selected for inclusion in The NEW Huron Perth Biennial Juried Exhibition presented by Orr Insurance & Investment when we open the gallery for Doors Open Stratford.

Enjoy FREE admission to visit the gallery to see the art from 10 AM to 5 PM on April 18 and 19.

This exhibition, generously sponsored by Orr Insurance & Investment, features new original works, in a variety of mediums, created by 33 artists living in Huron and Perth counties.

The exhibition was juried by Gordon Shadrach, a Toronto-based artist and educator whose work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including a solo exhibition at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. He is known for his allegorical paintings which focus on the Black male form in order to question the impact of cultural stereotypes in society and the prevalence of the colonial gaze.

Joining Gordon on the jury was Stratford-based artists Colleen Schindler and Grahame Lynch, multidisciplinary artists and educators whose practices explore themes of identity, memory, and shared experiences. Both are Associate Professors at Toronto Metropolitan University and hold Master of Fine Arts degrees. Their work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions internationally in Japan and the United States, and across Canada.

This exhibition continues until June 7, 2026.

William Ronald: Abstracts from the Permanent Collection of Gallery Stratford

Born in Stratford, William Ronald (1926-1998) is considered one of the most important abstract artists of the twentieth century. Several of Ronald’s works were included in last summer’s popular retrospective, And yet… here we are: Permanent Collection/Constant Change.

Ronald is best known as the founder of the influential Canadian abstract group Painters Eleven in 1953. The abstract expressionist works produced by Ronald, and this group, forever influenced the way Canadian artists and society perceived art.

This exhibition provides a survey of  significant examples of Ronald’s abstract expressionism contained within Gallery Stratford’s permanent collection. William Ronald: Abstracts from the Permanent Collection of Gallery Stratford continues until June 7, 2026.
