The City of Stratford’s Community Services has given the green light to proceed with the Swan Parade today, April 8. There is open water on the Avon River making both the swans and parade festivity organizers happy.

Stratford Salutes Spring Weekend April 7th & 8th, 2018

Swan Weekend hats

Wiarton Willie may be able to predict when spring will arrive, but Stratford’s swans know how to throw a spring fling. Stratford celebrates with one of Canada’s most unique events, a parade of swans on April 7 & 8. The highlight of the weekend is Sunday's Swan Celebration, one of Canada's most unique events announcing the arrival of spring. Swans parade to the Avon River at 1:45pm on Sunday along Lakeside Drive.

NEW! Sunday’s celebration is expanding to include a Swan Fair inside the Festival Theatre Lobby starting at 10:00 am. Children and parents get creative with crafts, music and fun. Wrapping up at 1:00 pm families, donning the ever-popular swan hats, gather for a musical march along Lakeside Drive in time to meet the swan parade.

NEW location! The Swan-y Street Party presents activities, swan art, food trucks and fun east of the Wm Allman Arena along Lakeside Drive from 12 noon – 3:00 pm.  The Swan Parade begins promptly at 2:00 pm. Just listen for the sound of the Stratford Police Pipes and Drums at 1:45 pm, your signal that the parade is about to begin. Site map  revised April 6th due to ice on river.

Mark your calendar and join us in Stratford for a weekend of wacky family fun.

Share your Swan Hat photos tagging #SwanParade so everyone can see how fabulous you look!

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
