The objects of the Stratford & District Chamber of Commerce shall be to maintain and improve trade and commerce, conservation and good management of community resources, and to promote the economic, commercial, industrial, tourist and conventions, civic, agricultural and environmental welfare of the City of Stratford and the surrounding district.
What is the Chamber? The Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of the business community. The Chamber is not a civic club, charitable organization, or department of city government. The Chamber is a private, not-for-profit corporation. It unites hundreds of business and professional firms, thus creating a unique central agency working to improve business and build a better community. Over 90 percent of the membership is composed of small businesses interested in prospering and creating a healthy environment in which to conduct business.
The Chamber's budget is comprised almost entirely on the financial investments of its members, because the Chamber is not a government agency or club. But most important, the Chamber is people...people just like you. It is people who realize that through the Chamber they can accomplish collectively what no one of them can do individually. The strength of the Chamber lies in attracting the greatest number of members, creating a pool of resources from which can be drawn ideas, energy, and finances. In your area, throughout Ontario, throughout Canada and in virtually every country around the world - you will find the Chamber of Commerce; an international partner that helps bring the global marketplace a little closer together. The Chamber today models the Chamber of yesterday -- a group of business people pooling their expertise and resources to support initiatives that will provide an attractive climate for free and competitive enterprise across all business sectors -- locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
