Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

Shakespeare east of Stratford

Shakespeare, a unique hamlet of antiques, crafts and artisan foods

The Hamlet of Shakespeare, located only 10 minutes east of Stratford, offers visitors a unique and fun filled day of quality shopping, local artisan fine foods, craft beer, imported British delicacies and more! There is no wonder why Shakespeare has a strong reputation in North America for its quality antiques shops, along with informed dealers and appraisers ranging from silver, Asian antiquities to Canadiana.

Shakespeare has many fine food shops, from Mennonite pastries, pies and cheeses, to one of the best purveyors of meat in Southern Ontario – the Best Little Pork Shoppe. Do you love craft beer? Then you must visit Shakespeare Brewing Company, where they believe using 100% Ontario grown hops & barley gives you the best taste possible – true Ontario Beer! After a busy day of shopping, treat yourself to delicious British delicacies, or book a luxurious spa treatment at Orchard Valley Spa.  We invite you to explore this walkable town, and find your own treasures to take home.

Don’t miss these unique stops along the way:

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
