A cabaret from famed Canadian writer Tomson Highway, incorporating Cree- and English-language songs written over the past 30 years, including some from Mr. Highway’s musicals Rose; The Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito; The (Post) Mistress; and The Sage, the Dancer, and the Fool. Peruvian-Canadian vocalist Patricia Cano and jazz sax player Marcus Ali round out the collaboration. From $29
RON SEXSMITH, August 29, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. | Tom Patterson Theatre
Ron Sexsmith is an internationally acclaimed, three-time JUNO-award-winning songwriter with a talent for catchy but graceful melodies that’s matched by his skills as a lyricist. His songs have been covered by Rod Stewart, k.d. lang, Feist, Michael Bublé, Elvis Costello, and Emmylou Harris, to name just a few. He composes compact sketches of love and the trials of everyday life that are heartfelt and compassionate even as he’s being witty and warm. He recently completed work on his seventeenth album in Nashville. Ron will be performing an intimate solo concert featuring songs from his entire catalogue. From $29
