Puck’s Plenty – Velvet Foot Mushrooms
One of the most beautiful mushrooms of Autumn . . . and Winter. Yes, that’s right. Velvet Foots will be available right through until March. They grow in clusters on standing dead hardwood, have sticky caps and white spores that “stick” to the caps rather than blown by the wind. Why? Because Mother Nature wants the new growth to remain on the rotting trees. These fungi are perfect for soups and stews. Save their juices for a natural gravy thickener.
Join us as we collect other mushrooms such as the Grey Trich, Pear Shaped Puffballs and Autumn Oysters.
