Another early Spring mushroom is the Platterful. It is found on rotting hardwood in shady areas of the forest. The Platterful can grow quite large and is recognized by its beautiful gills that descend like white delicate curtains. Its stem is also unique as it has the texture of stringy cheese. These mushrooms share their habitat with the likes of Pheasant Back mushrooms, Wild Leeks, Plantain and Burdock Root. Our second trail will feature Fiddleheads, Nettles and Marsh Marigolds.
