Dark Light

KingDom Theatre Presents: Prisma

After international success on stages in Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, and Finland, Ottawa-based KingDom Theatre’s Youth Ensemble returns to Stratford with a NEW powerful non-verbal performance: PRISMA.

Inspired by the acclaimed 2024 children’s book The Gray City by German author and illustrator Torben Kuhlmann, PRISMA plays with light, colour, and transformation to bring this incredible story to life.

The performance follows Robin, a girl who discovers her new city has lost all its color — buildings, people, even flowers — due to a scheme by the Gray Works factory. Robin’s journey to restore color is an attempt to return joy, creativity, and hope. At the heart of the story is a simple yet profound metaphor: a prism separates white light into a spectrum of vibrant colours. But when certain colours blend together, their brilliance can fade into gray. Through this poetic image, the performance reflects on individuality, collaboration, and what happens when creativity is suppressed.

Told entirely without words, PRISMA uses physical theatre, shadow theatre, and puppetry to create a visually striking and emotionally resonant experience. This show is recommended for audiences ages 6+. Location: Stratford Intermediate School, James C. Reaney Auditorium. Entrance at the front door on St. Andrew Street.

PRISMA is recommended for audiences who are six years old and older.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children and students.
