INNERchamber: Where I Keep My Heart
Few artists are able to truly carve their own path. Miklós Rózsa made his living as a composer of film music, but always kept a special place in his heart for composing concert music that stood on its own merit. Though Mozart’s String Quartets were very successful, he loved his String Quintets, but had to fight for their acceptance.
Mozart loved to write for String Quintet (two violins, two violas, one cello), but his efforts in that combination were not received nearly as warmly as his Quartets. He persisted, and fought to have the Quintets performed and published. Among these special pieces, the Fourth is especially meaningful as G minor was the key he used for his richest and most complex emotional content.
