Foraging with Puck’s Plenty
You’ve seen them before. They are those sticky things that cling to your boots and lower pant legs. But wait. Before you rip them up take a second or even a third look. Because Cleavers are known as being a traditional spring tonic for a couple of reasons. First, Cleavers are what herbalists refer to as alteratives. Alteratives are herbs that gradually restore the proper function of the body and increase health and vitality. After a long, cold winter, fresh Spring Cleavers are just the thing to get the lymph moving and eliminating waste and toxins from the body. That aside, this is another tasty wild herb that makes a GREAT! pesto.
We’ll foraging for these as well as Pheasant Back and Platterful Mushrooms, Wild Leek Bulbs, Nettles, Day Lily shoots and more.
