Theatrical Carpentry – Intermediate

Intermediate Five day course – July 25 – 29, 2022
Strong theatrical carpentry skills are essential to creating sets and props that capture the theatre goer’s imagination.
Practice a variety of techniques used by scenic carpenters behind the scenes, during the introductory, one-week course:
Interpret set designs and develop working drawings from them;
Explore and practice basic carpentry skills: measuring, cutting, shaping, fitting and fastening;
Train in the safe and effective use of power tools and equipment;
Experiment with a variety of construction materials and methods;
Build basic set pieces such as flats, stage decking, windows, doors and sculptural elements.
During the Intermediate one-week course, expand on the above skills, as well as:
Explore more three-dimensional carpentry techniques;
Create challenging set pieces such as curved flats, wheels, functioning doors and arched windows.
Under guidance from Huron Perth Public Health, Off the Wall is requiring proof of vaccination for all students attending this course.
$ 560 (materials included) for five day course.
