Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

Stratford Lantern Parade

On Saturday October 19th, join hundreds of residents and visitors as they gather on the banks of Stratford’s Avon River to light up unique and hand-crafted lanterns and parade along the water’s edge.

The event gets underway at 6:30 pm on Tom Patterson Island, where you can acquire a lantern (ready-to-carry!), or launch a Wish Boat into the River. Walk the Labyrinth of Light and experience the magical Forest of Dreams before creating a percussion instrument for use in the procession. Musicians, singers and jugglers will add to the atmosphere on the Island, until the procession sets off at 7:30 pm.

The walk along the riverbank offers a chance to enjoy and appreciate all the lanterns. Musical, theatrical, and other surprises await along Veterans’ Drive.

More sparkling fun is in store once the procession reaches Market Square, with live music, jugglers, giant puppets, stilt-walkers and refreshments! Park your lantern in the Square to enjoy a mesmerizing aerial arts performance by CirqueSmith inside City Hall Auditorium.

The event concludes at approximately 9:30 pm.

This event is wheelchair accessible.

Cost: Free

Location: Tom Patterson Island and concludes at Market Square, Stratford, 84 Lakeside Drive, Stratford
