Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 7: Adding a round-about at Line 26 between Stratford and St. Marys/London/401 W

Daytime delays may be possible during August, however, all roads and the round-about are open.

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

Advanced Scenic Art

This one-week course is designed for artists who have either finished our introductory scenic paint class or who would like to use their current painting skills to GO BIG. The focus, with instructor Michael Wharran, is on the process of creating a large-scale theatrical drop: taking a design image from the page to the stage - from layout to a painted drop. The methods, shortcuts and secrets used by the professional scenic artist, spanning hundreds of years, will be explained giving the participant the opportunity to execute and take away their own piece of theatrical art.

In this course you will learn and expand on the following skills:

  • Start with a designers' vision and work toward a finished set piece.

  • Solve problems typical with materials, tools and paints.

  • Build an image in stages on a large scale in the continental style.

  • Build confidence with tools found only in a scene painting shop.

Cost: $525/Per person and includes materials

Location: Factory163, Stratford, 163 King Street, Stratford
