Theatrical Sculpture Workshop

​Theatrical Sculpture can be taken as part of the Theatre Production Arts certificate.

​ARTIST INSTRUCTOR: RUTH ABERNETHY

During this intensive, one-week course, participants will be guided by Ruth Abernethy, one of Canada's leading monument Sculptors, to learn the process of creating theatrical sculptures.

In this course participants will learn and expand on the following skills:

  • Effectively examine, analyze and interpret a drawing to develop a three-dimensional form.

  • Learn mapping techniques to carve from a block of foam.

  • Discover best practises and tools for carving in Styrofoam.

  • Learn different methods of finishing your sculpture.

  • Discuss other methods of creating sculptures with different materials.

  • Discuss and share sources for sculptural materials and tools.

  • Create one or several sculptures over the course of the week.

Cost: $495/Per person (materials included)
