The Stratford Tourism Alliance (STA) is governed by a Board of Directors representing a broad section of private and public stakeholders interested in furthering the tourism economy in Stratford and Perth County.

The STA Board of Directors includes representation from various sectors that feed into Stratford’s tourism picture. A board skills matrix is utilized to ensure a balanced board composition which is sought from the following key sectors (with no more than 2 positions representing one sector) that include:

  • Stratford Festival
  • Accommodators: Hotel and/or Bed and Breakfast
  • Stratford Business Improvement Area (BIA)
  • Culinary/Restaurant
  • Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Retail
  • Producer
  • Association
  • Events and Attractions
  • Citizens at Large

A number of seats are held for ex-officio non-voting members from the City of Stratford, the STA Executive Director and the Ministry of Tourism.

Board terms are referenced in Stratford Tourism Alliance By-law 3.3*

3.3 Election and Term
(a)The Directors shall be elected by the Members
(b) The term of office of the Directors who are not serving as Directors in a position that has been reserved for Municipal Councillors of the City of Stratford as set out in Section 3.1(c), shall be for a maximum of three (3) consecutive terms of two (2) years each term, comprising a maximum of six consecutive (6) years, with any one term expiring not later than the close of the third Annual Meeting of the Members after the Directors election or appointment. The term of office of the Directors who are serving as Directors in a position that has been reserved for Municipal Councillors of the City of Stratford as set out in Section 3.1(c), shall be for a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms of four (4) years each term, comprising a maximum of eight consecutive (8) years, with any one term expiring not later than the close of the fourth Annual Meeting of the Members after the aforesaid Directors election or appointment.

* This By-law was amended at the AGM of 2018. Prior to 2018, this bylaw would have read:
