Stratford has a vibrant cultural scene with events all year round.
Stratford is the centre for theatre in south-western Ontario with the celebrated Stratford Shakespeare Festival, exclusively Canadian plays at the Blyth Festival, and the theatre scene in London and Kitchener. Our appreciation of music is universal. Artists come to stay in our town and we attract international singers, musicians, composers, including a famous Celtic songstress and the Stratford Concert Band. Our passion for music is best displayed at Stratford Summer Music in July through August. And we have a great fiddlers and step-dancers in June.
Our vibrant visual art scene is found in the artist collective of Factory 163, the curated shows at Gallery Stratford and Art in the Park.
Our history is captured in the Stratford-Perth Museum. Our town is one of Canada’s 19th century architectural gems filled with mansions, Ontario cottages, churches, civic buildings and commercial buildings, many converted into shops and restaurants – Stratford has some of the best conserved heritage in Canada. You can even stay at a heritage B&B or inn.
The highlight of any visit to Stratford is strolling acres of parks and gardens along the Avon River as you view our most famous citizens - the Swans of Stratford. less...
