Tavistock Golf Course was established in 1972 as a Par 3, 9 hole course. It was designed and built by Delmer Zehr. His family continue to own and operate it. In 1992, 9 more holes were added. Several years later, the entire 18 holes were re-vamped to include 6 Par 4's.
The layout is extremely scenic - without drastically altering the existing topography, naturalized forested areas, ponds, and creeks come into play throughout the 18 Holes. The course lies in a peaceful country setting, surrounded by farmland. Tavistock is an excellent location - central to Kitchener-Waterloo, Woodstock, Stratford, and London. If real estate is an indicator, Tavistock is a very fast-growing area.
With a Par of 60, Tavistock is one of the few Executive courses in the area. Of these, it is the most mature and well-established, thereby attracting many golfers from Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford. This course is in its own unique niche - all calibre of golfers come here including seniors, juniors, women, and even seasoned golfers who wish to work on their short game. It is a challenging but totally walkable layout. Considering the future of golf in the area, Tavistock provides the perfect fit for an aging population. More and more people want to play smaller courses that they can walk; not a long drive from the city to enjoy peaceful country surroundings; and not spending a lot of time or money on a game of golf (18 holes can be played here under 4 hours).
The downstairs restaurant (Delly's) is open, serving breakfast and lunch. The facility is available for tournament meals as well as private meetings.
The Golf Course is located 1/4 mile from Tavistock, less than 15 minutes from downtown Stratford; 1 and 1/2 hours from Toronto; 1 hour from London.
