Eighteen Degrees By Maureen Cassidy - SpringWorks: indie theatre & arts festival

The world of Eighteen Degrees follows the story of M, who fights for her life against an unseen enemy and under the most bizarre circumstances. Trapped in a dingy room in a small foreign country and forced into constant sedation, M relentlessly struggles to stay awake long enough to escape the rotating cast of her family whom her anonymous enemies have replaced with doppelgangers. Once awake in earnest, she finds herself in the critical care unit of a hospital. Most of her upper left side, infected with disease, has been amputated. What follows is M’s incredibly painful but inspirational journey to return to the world she once knew. Allegories of female warriors, fight choreography, music and movement are woven together to create a completely compelling and unique piece of theatre.‚Äč  Eighteen Degrees is based on a true story.
Hallucination, mutilation, and miracles and are the themes of this entrancing and gritty one-woman show about brazen victory in bad times.

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
