Host: Stratford Celebrates Canada 150
As part of Stratford's Sesquicentennial celebration in 2017, the organizing committee is proposing a traditional time capsule.
There is a plan in place to install a time capsule in Confederation Park, in a sealed pedestal constructed from the bricks there were rescued from the old roadbed during the rebuilding of Shakespeare St. The time capsule will be installed at the end of 2017 so that items from the full year of Canada 150 celebrations can be included, and with an opening date in 2067.
SUBMITTING DIGITAL PICTURES AND VIDEOS FOR TRADITIONAL 2017 TIME CAPUSLE
The Sesquicentennial (Canada 150) Ad-hoc Committee, as part of the on-going celebrations and events during this land mark year for Canada, is creating a traditional time capsule in Confederation Park. As a part of this time capsule, we are asking the members of the Stratford community to submit pictures and videos as a part of this project.
We expect that in 50 years when this time capsule is opened by a future generation that these photos and videos will be made available for people to see in the future at the Library, City Hall and the Archives.
The procedure for submitting of materials for this project:
- Summations must be made on a thumb/flash drive
- Include, name, address and date of birth
- Please only family friendly content
- Submit as many pictures as you wish, please keep videos to around 60 seconds in length
- Submissions will be received until December 1st 2017
Your submissions can be dropped off at City Hall in the Clerk's Department, Stratford Tourism Alliance office on Downie St, MacLeod's Scottish Shop 80 Ontario St., Stratford Public Library, Stratford YMCA, Stratford-Perth Archives and Stratford-Perth Museum.
